PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT
1. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, contest administrators and officials at every game.
2. I will place the emotional and physical well being of the athletes ahead of my personal desire to win.
3. I will demand a sports environment that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all Upper Southampton Basketball Association sporting events.
4. I will remember that the game is for the kids - not the adults; and will do my best to make sure that youth sports are a FUN and POSITIVE experience.
5. I will remain mindful that my conduct influences the respect that other athletes, coaches, parents, and the public.
6. I will treat other players, coaches, fans, volunteers and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.
7. I will not berate the officials!
8. I will not undermine the coaches’ instructions or directions; which includes, I will not Coach from the sideline-- Coachs coach-Parents Parent! It is distracting and confusing for your child to hear one direction from their Coach(s) and a parent yelling something different from the sidelines/stands.
9. I will not use profanity!
10. I will calmly communicate my concerns through the proper channels in a dignified and adult manner. I will honor the 24-hour rule! This means you will NOT address a Coach about anything regarding your child's playing time, whether they started or finished a game, or position they played. Your child's Coach is a VOLUNTEER, doing their best. Parenting is emotional and being upset about your child's playing time is not something that should be discussed in the aftermath of a game, as it is emotional for both the parent, player and Coach. It is best for all to decompress and speak about any issues of concern after 24 hours has passed after a game. If there is an issue regarding player safety, that can be addressed at any time in a proper manner with a Coach or Board member.
